Opening an account
Who can open one
Anyone aged 18 or over who is physically located in Australia and is not registered with BetStop. One account per person. Accounts opened on behalf of somebody else, or in a false name, are closed and the balance returned to source.
What you need
- Full legal name, date of birth and residential address
- An Australian mobile number and an email address you control
- Identity documents, usually a driver licence or passport
- A deposit limit, which you set during sign-up
Verification
We are required under the AML/CTF Act to verify your identity. Most verifications complete electronically in under a minute against the name, date of birth and address you provide. Where an electronic match is not possible we will ask for a document, and that is usually resolved within one business day. Mandatory customer pre-verification applies, so you cannot place a bet until this is complete.

Withdrawals
Withdrawals go back to a verified bank account in your own name. Once your identity is verified and the request is approved, we process it the same business day. Your bank then takes its own time, typically one to three business days. We do not charge a withdrawal fee and we do not require you to turn over a deposit before withdrawing it.
Bets and settlement
Can I cancel a bet?
Not once it is accepted. A confirmed bet is a contract at the price shown. We will void a bet where a market was priced in obvious error, where an event is abandoned under the rules for that sport, or where a participant does not take part in a market that requires them to.
When do winnings appear?
As soon as the market settles, which is normally within minutes of the official result. Markets that depend on official confirmation, player statistics, some racing placings, wait for that confirmation.
Why was my bet limited?
We apply maximum payout limits by market type, published in the terms. We may also limit the stake we accept from an individual account. If that happens you will be told at the point of placing the bet, not afterwards.
Security
- Use a password you do not use anywhere else, and turn on two-factor authentication.
- We will never ask for your password, and never ask you to move money to another account.
- Tell us immediately if you think somebody else has accessed your account.
- Log out on shared devices. A saved session is an open account.
Email support with your account username and what you were trying to do. Please do not send identity documents by email unless we have asked. There is a secure upload in your account.
